Montana Elk Archery Hunting at Dome Mountain Ranch

Archery hunting for a big game animal can take a hunter to levels of excitement he never thought possible. Dome Mountain Ranch has what we believe are all the ingredients for the perfect archery hunt. The average success rate in taking a bull elk with a bow is between 2 and 10 percent. Dome Mountain Ranch boasts to a success rate much higher. Each season we will not take more than 10 hunters over the 5-6 week period. When you have the wide and varied area of use, a hunter feels as if he has the woods all to himself. The 5,000 private acres of Dome Mountain is a heavy use area for rutting elk. This is made evident by anyone who has spent time on the mountain. Few trees can be found that have not been scraped of their bark. Water holes all seem to turn into wallows visited several times a day by hundreds of elk. Many have referred to Dome Mountain as a bow hunter's heaven, as a secret that should be shared.

Many bow hunters have had weeks where they were given at least two opportunities a day. This is quite astounding when you consider the fact that many hunters pursue elk for years and never even see one! It is not uncommon to see over two hundred elk at one time. This low-pressure style of hunting seldom pushes the elk; therefore, the same herds can be worked day after day in an effort for the perfect shot. Unlike rifle hunting, archery hunters can spend a week or more in an area and never disturb a single elk.

Most archery hunters choose this style of hunting due to the increased challenge, the need to get within 50 yards of a big game animal undetected. This can be an experience that few hunters will ever know. The sound of a bugling bull elk can make the hairs on your neck stand on end. Imagine one within spitting distance. Yes, it can and has happened! The archery guides at Dome Mountain are some of the very best in the U.S. Archery hunters themselves, they have unique abilities uncommon to many other guides. Their knowledge and love for this style of Montana Elk hunting inspires them. Many archery hunters return year after year to enjoy their time spent with these special individuals. Similar to all our hunts, we will help you prepare for this type of hunt. Before you arrive at Dome Mountain you will be at your best. The rest will be an adventure yet to unfold. If you are a hunter looking for the ultimate hunting experience, Dome Mountain Ranch may indeed be all that you have been looking for!
