About The Dome Mountain Ranch Hosts and Guides
As
your hosts my wife and I both plan and take vacations as well, and some
of them we admit weren't what we thought they would be - we assure
you that we do our absolute best to make each and every adventure with
us so good that you will want to come back again and again. We
enjoy sharing our dreams with others, whether it be the dimple of a rise,
the majestic Montana mountains or the screaming elk in the high country.
We will never grow tired of any of them, especially the smiles and sincerest of appreciations from you. We hope to have you come out to Dome Mountain Ranch and experience "Big Sky Country" with us!

Montana Outfitter Jim "JB" Klyap
Montana
Outfitter Jim Klyap has been chasing Montana Elk for a long
time, and brings to the table a hard working and ethical no-nonsense
professional approach to his work. You may have seen or heard his name
in the media. He's been featured on the Outdoor Life Network
(OLN), Cabelas, Reel Outdoors and in Outdoor Life, and has been
highly involved in the outdoor industry as a public speaker, volunteer,
and serves as the chairman for the RMEF's Outfitter Council.
As the Outfitter of Dome Mountain Ranch I am confident that we will provide you with the highest quality Montana Elk Hunt and an unforgettable experience. Each season I am impressed by not only the hunting skills of the guides who work with me, but more importantly, their unique ability to put hunters of all ages and levels in advantageous positions.
You can call me toll free at (800) 313-4868 on weekends, evenings or whenever you have some free time to discuss your hunting opportunities here at Dome Mountain Ranch.
Matt "Mad Matt" Freudenberg
Matt
brings a life long passion for the outdoors combined with a definite "Dome
Mountain" style of guiding with his adventuresome attitude and confident,
quiet demeanor.
A tell it like it is kind of guy, Matt has been known to go well beyond where most hunters would never imagine being physically capable of going. A pure hunter at heart from hard working family oriented blue collar stock, Matt is a superb big game and fly fishing guide. Any client who has the opportunity to have Matt by his side will return from his or her trip with a smile that sticks and a mind branded with sweet memories of the Big Sky state.
Having been in the shoes of a "client" and calling home "back east" makes Matt a powerful part of the Dome Mountain guide staff.
Ryan "PoPo" Curley
All of Ryan's clients will testify to his caring and passionate attitude for the hunt and most of all his client's enjoyment and experience.
His patience and persistance has given even first time elk hunters a lesson in the outdoors which has helped them become very successful big game hunters. When Ryan isn't chasing elk with JB and company at Dome Mountain Ranch, he serves as one of New York City's finest Police Detectives. His unique background in working with a multitude of people combined with his daily commitment to conservation and the wide open spaces makes your time spent with this gentleman on the mountain a memorable experience to say the least.
Ryan prides himself on having nearly a 100% return client rate
which has included first time elk hunting couples.
Dylan "Farmer" Roberts
When it comes to being a "natural", Dylan is your man. Some say he is part grizzly bear and part elk. We tend to think that Dylan was actually an elk in his previous life.
It isn't unusual to see Dylan drag an entire bull elk off the face of Dome Mountain all by himself, just for fun. With a quiet and perceptive personality Dylan's life long involvement in the outdoors makes him as pure an elk guide as they come.
A proficient caller, excellent horseman along with a depth of understanding the moods and habits of elk and deer, Dylan gives his clients often more than would ever be expected from a Montana Elk Guide. He is at home behind the oars of a driftboat as he is miles from civilization in the Montana backcountry outwitting one big bull after another
Mick "Idywoot" Wilhelm
Mick brings the romantic life of being one of Montana's last real cowboys to the table. A life long elk hunter and guide he has made a successful career in the outdoors industry with a well known reputation from Idaho to the Dakotas. We're very fortunate to have Mick as one of our Montana elk guides here at Dome Mountain Ranch.
His unique background is always available for gut wrenching tales of days gone by of growing up on an Indian Reservation. Hunting elk and guiding is second nature to Mick and all of his clients will attest to his depth of knowledge and skills. We know we do.
Mick is one of those elk guides who makes the most rugged of Montana backcountry seem like a walk in a city park. Having him by your side on the mountain chasing elk is a sure bet for exciting and memorable days.
RICK "Rikki-Bobbi" Kalish
Once Rick got bored with being on a successful pit crew with NASCAR and a successful businessman he decided that a secondary career in being an elk hunting guide was simply next on his list.
His maturity and years in the Montana elk country gives him the sort of experience that can only be gained through time. A wonderful smiling presence even in the most challenging situations, Rick has the ability to educate his clients on elk hunting and patience, which is why you will see his face behind many of big bull elk laying on the ground.
An accomplished horseman and people person make Rick as versatile as they come.
Paul Schneider
After 22 years in the prison system (as a guard) Paul made a career move most people only dream of. He has committed himself to pursuing a career in the outfitting industry with a passion that is unrivaled.
His understanding of wildlife and guiding along with his unique background in working with people make him a good guy to have on your side when chasing North America's most challenging big game animal. His persistant and detailed approach to the hunt make everyday an exciting adventure with incredible opportunities and a feeling a great comfort for anyone who spends time in the hills with him.
Like all of Dome Mountain's guides,
he brings that rare and special something that every hunter can appreciate.
